A Message from PMH Registered Nurse Esther Flores on the Covid-19 Vaccine

August 18, 2021

In December my family and I were diagnosed with COVID 19. Out of the 5 of us diagnosed, my Mother and I were hospitalized for a 10 day period and my father unfortunately did not survive and passed away on December 27th, 2020 after being on high flow for 10 days and on a ventilator for 8 days. He had pleural effusions and a ruptured lung. My husband and my elder daughter were very sick and were both treated by their primary care physicians. This is not something I would wish upon anyone. I continue to have many sleepless nights from this and my mother is currently dealing with the after effects of COVID like severe anemia, kidney failure and uncontrolled hypertension, despite the many medication changes and additions to her medication therapy. I would encourage all who have not been vaccinated to please, please vaccinate if not for their own health benefit for that of our community. We need to show our community that "This Is How We Care" by getting vaccinated. It may not prevent us from getting COVID but it can reduce long hospitalizations or an addition to the current COVID death toll.
