Outpatient IV therapy
Infusion therapy includes giving medications or fluids directly into your bloodstream via an intravenous (IV) catheter. IV therapy may be used to treat a variety of conditions, such as anemia, dehydration and severe infections. Some people may need daily infusions, which we can provide.
We provide a wide range of IV infusion and related services your doctor may order, including:
- IV medication therapy
- IV antibiotics
- Iron infusion therapy
- Injection services
- IV hydration therapy
- Blood product transfusions
- Rheumatology medications
- Therapeautic phlebotomy
- Central line care, including PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) port-a-cath placement and supportive care
- Care and support for personal pumps (such as those worn for diabetes management)
What to expect when you come in for infusion therapy
On the day of your therapy, stop at the registration desk so a member of the staff may escort or direct you to the infusion area.
A nurse will help prepare you for your infusion. We encouraged you to ask questions and share any concerns with our nurse.
How long your treatment will take depends on the medications your provider ordered. Meal service is available if your infusion is lengthy. You may also bring your own snacks.
How to make an appointment
Before scheduling your first appointment, your doctor's office will need to fax over any orders and authorizations. Our fax number is 509.786.7228. It is not necessary for your doctor to have privileges at Prosser Memorial Health. We are able to take orders from any doctor.
