At Prosser Memorial Health, we offer mental health care and support at our primary care clinics in Prosser, Grandview and Benton City. Whether you need a mental health therapist to talk to or an expert to help you manage a behavioral health condition with medication, we can help.

Mental health counseling and other services

Our highly trained team includes psychiatric nurse practitioners and a licensed mental health therapist who are dedicated to helping you maintain your well-being.

How to respond to someone in mental health distress

It is important to recognize when someone may be experiencing signs of distress and thinking about hurting themselves or others. Signs of distress include:

  • Threats to hurt or kill themselves
  • Seeking access to pills or weapons
  • Talk of death or escape
  • References to worthlessness
  • Giving away possessions
  • Talking or writing about death, dying or suicide
  • Major changes in mood and activity
  • Withdrawing from others
  • Expressing hopelessness, anxiety or agitation
  • Increased drug or alcohol use
  • Experiencing rage or anger or seeking revenge
  • Impulsivity

Remember that if you hear someone talking about hurting themselves or others, it’s important to:

Acknowledge: Listen to your friend; don't ignore threats.

Care: Let your friend know you care.

Tell: Tell a trusted adult or professional so they can help.
